Prehistoric Eras · First Mesozoic Trail

Triassic Period

The first stretch of the Mesozoic trail, when early dinosaurs and many other prehistoric groups began appearing across changing ecosystems.

About the Triassic

The Triassic Period lasted from roughly 252 to 201 million years ago. It followed the Permian mass extinction and marked the beginning of the Mesozoic Era.

Early dinosaurs appeared during the Triassic, alongside many other reptiles and recovering ecosystems. By the end of the period, dinosaurs were becoming increasingly important parts of terrestrial ecosystems.
